For all those interested in a little piece of railway history Bachmann are proud to offer something just a little different from the norm. Invented by the Scottish engineer Robert F. Fairlie in 1864, the double ended steam locomotive was certainly revolutionary when it appeared.

Having noticeable technical differences to conventional engines, these narrow gauge locomotives were exported all over the world. New Branchline ‘OO’ Scale Items
New items for the Branchline OO scale range include these magnificent parallel boiler patriot class locomotives. These three cylinder locomotives featured a 4-6-0 wheel arrangement that made them powerful performers, but were light enough to be used over many parts of the Railway network. This versatility gave them a life span of up to 35 years from there introduction in 1930.

Two variations of British Railways lined green livery can be seen here, locomotive number 45543 "Home Guard" wears the earlier tender emblem from ERA 4 while locomotive number 45503 "The Royal Leicestershire Regiment" sports the later BR crest from Era 5.

Moving from the steam to diesel era, item number 32-754 is a class 57 locomotive in the house colours of Direct Rail Services. This particular livery is referred to as "compass" livery and is very much a modern, Era 9 paint scheme.

These locomotives were rebuilds using the re-engineered body shell of a class 47 model. The Branchline class 57 features working directional lighting and an 8 pin Digital socket
