Michael Wittmann WWII German Tank Ace Limited Edition.
Michael Wittmann was a German tank commander who achieved legendary status during World War II. Born on April 22 1914 in Vogelthal, Germany, he joined the German Army in 1934. His career took a decisive turn when he joined the elite Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler in 1937.
Wittmann quickly distinguished himself as a skilled tank commander, earning numerous decorations for bravery and tactical acumen. He is most famous for his exploits during a clash between British and German forces in the small French village of Villers-Bocage on June 13 1944, a week after the D-Day landings. Wittman commanded a Tiger tank in a daring ambush against British forces, inflicting heavy losses.
Despite his reputation as a formidable adversary, Wittmann's life ended on August 8 1944, aged 30, when his Tiger tank was destroyed near Hill 112 in Normandy. Wittmann's life and exploits have been the subject of numerous books, documentaries, and, more recently, video games.
