The last and most advanced version of the A-6 Intruder attack aircraft, developed in the early 1970s and entered service with the United States Navy in 1979. The A-6E Intruder was equipped with a number of enhancements over the earlier A-6A and A-6B versions and was used extensively by the United States Navy in the 1980s and 1990s. A versatile and effective aircraft which played a key role in the Gulf War, the Kosovo War and the Iraq War.
