US M48A5 Main Battle Tank, mid 1970s.
The last major upgrade of the US M48 tank series, with a 105mm M68 tank gun replacing the 90mm gun on earlier model M48s. Other upgraded equipment included a searchlight. M48A5s served with US Army National Guard units up to the mid-1980s, while some redundant tanks were used as targets into the 1990s. Many others continued to serve other countries including Turkey, South Korea and Morocco.
